Turkey Dinner ... to Cute to Eat.

This Thanksgiving, I wanted to do something kind of special for my daughter and my nephew. I found some pictures of a turkey hat on Google and I really wanted to make it for her so that she could wear it to Thanksgiving dinner. Well ... I could not find a patter, but I already have a pretty generic hat pattern in all sizes and thanks to the internet, found what else I needed to make the hat. So I set to work making it. Well when I was all done, I thought it would be cute if I made her a dress that looked like feathers to wear with it. So I measured my little girl and then came up with a dress pattern, based solely on things I found on the internet and my own creativity.

This is the end result.

One of her first smiles. She loves her dress!

This is a better pic of the hat.

And here is one of her dress.

It also helped that I had the cutest little girl to model my creations!

Cowabunga!

Sorry its been awhile, but since I am the mom of a new baby ... its really hard to do anything but take care of her demanding personality. However ... I did take on a commission to make a teenage mutant ninja turtle. My sister wanted my to make one for her sons Christmas present. So I set about finding a pattern. Well we found one pretty quickly, but when I went to work up the pattern it was confusing and my turtle looked ... well off. So after crying for about two hours and ripping my hair out, my husband told me to try making my own. I have never ever done this before! I told him over and over how I wasn't creative enough and how my turtle would probably turn out worse then the original, but he encouraged me to try so I did.

Here is the finished project!

My husband loved him! I have to make some for him now. Considering it was my first pattern write up ... I thought I did pretty good.

I think I might put my pattern on Etsy.

Cheapers ... the crochet bird!

When my husband and I were first married, I liked to Google patterns for different things. At this point my crochet knowledge mostly consisted of two terms, chain and single crochet. It wasn't until a kid at work showed me a YouTube video on how to crochet in the round that I finally branched out. Thanks kid! I owe you one! One of my first projects after that was Cheapers. I had some obnoxious colored variegated yarn I wanted to get rid of and the minute I made him I couldn't help but admire how absolutely adorable he was! I love him, and so did my husband. We loved him so much that I made him a smaller friend that we call Peepers and whenever we go to our local Walmart, we are always on the look out for more variegated yarn to add more birds to our colorful little flock. :)

To get started ...

Recently I've been told by countless people that I need to set up a shop for all of the crafty things I do. Well ... I'm kind of a chicken and I'm to afraid no one will buy my stuff, so I thought I would showcase some things first and see how people liked them. Who knows ... maybe one day I'll be a Pintrest pin. :) For now I'm just happy getting my product out there, even if no one buys it.
